It was in November of last year that the Democrat and socialist Zohran Mamdani emerged victorious in New York’s mayoral election. That made the 34-year-old the youngest person in over 100 years to hold the position, and the first Muslim mayor. Now attention is being drawn to a meeting he attended in New York City Hall – a Muslim prayer meeting.
Mamdani was born in Uganda. Both of his parents are of Indian descent—his father is a Gujarati Muslim who was born in Bombay and grew up mainly in Uganda, and his mother is a Punjabi Hindu who was born in Rourkela and grew up in Bhubaneswar.
The family immigrated to South Africa when he was five years old and then to the United States at age seven, settling in New York.
During the election campaign, President Donald Trump warned about the consequences of a victory for Mamdani and signaled that state funding could be withdrawn. With a communist in charge, the city has no chance to succeed, let alone survive, Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

And now Mamdani is drawing attention for having held a Muslim prayer session in City Hall.
“Mamdani sat on the floor and ate with his hands in New York’s City Hall (March). This is not assimilation. This is a takeover.”, wrote media personality Benny Johnson.
Another X account describes it as “madness” and that “empathy and tolerance will destroy Western civilization.”
The well-known author and critic of Islam Brigitte Gabriel also criticizes and warns about the development:
People need to understand the symbolism of this.
Islam is all about symbolism and projecting their dominance.
New York City has been conquered and Mamdani is proclaiming it to the Islamic world.
Another draws attention to the sign made by one of Mamdani’s invited guests:
The ISIS symbol is being displayed right in front of our eyes at Mamdani’s event!
