On Christmas Day, a 22-year-old man attacked a 55-year-old woman, employed by the Swedish Armed Forces, and her two daughters in a residential area in Boden. The woman was murdered at her home while the daughters were injured. Early information in the investigation indicates there is no known connection between the perpetrator and the victims.

It was around lunchtime on Christmas Day when the woman, employed at Norrbotten Regiment I19, was found murdered outside on the property, while her two daughters were taken to hospital with injuries. Police have not commented further on the condition other than to state that their situation is stable. They are still being treated at hospital.

According to reports, the perpetrator had been in the house for several hours, and neighbors testified about noises in the morning – which then ceased. When police arrived at the residence, they were met by the perpetrator at the door, who is known to the police and lives in Boden.

A threatening situation arose during the intervention, and the police fired shots at him. He later died of his injuries. According to media reports, the perpetrator had been armed with a knife during the incident.

P-O Andersson, a detective superintendent with the Luleå police serious crime unit, described the violence in the house as “very violent.”

He added that the police have a clear picture of what happened, but have yet to find any obvious link between the individuals involved.
