With Easter just around the corner and two public holidays ahead, most Swedish households are looking forward to a weekend that’s twice as long as usual. While some use the time to celebrate Easter, for others the focus is more on relaxation. There’s also a third category – those who seize the opportunity to travel away.
Data from SAS booking statistics ahead of this year’s Easter show that Swedish travelers are seeking out either classic European cities or southern destinations with sun and warmth, and often places that offer a combination of both.
Paris, Berlin, and Amsterdam continue to be popular choices for city trips, while Málaga and Alicante attract travelers looking for warmer temperatures.
To meet the rising demand for Southern European destinations, SAS is launching a new direct route between Stockholm and Madrid and will add extra departures to Southern Europe during the spring on selected, busy travel days from both Copenhagen and Stockholm.
