On Christmas Day, a woman in her 50s was murdered and two other people were injured in a residential area in Boden. The suspected perpetrator, a man in his 20s, was shot dead by police during the intervention. According to media reports, the man had no relation to the victims.

Police received the alarm shortly before noon that people had been injured in a home by a man in his 20s. The man had a weapon, reportedly a knife. A major police operation was launched and several patrols were dispatched to the address.

When police attempted to arrest the man, a situation arose that was deemed so serious that both officers reportedly fired shots at the murderer. The man later died of his injuries.
