On Saturday, the Sweden Democrats are holding their election finale in Kungsträdgården in central Stockholm. According to the schedule, several of the party’s top representatives will give speeches, while various artists and musicians perform on stage.

The race is tight between the government bloc and the opposition ahead of Sunday’s election. The final voter poll by Ipsos shows only marginal differences between the two sides.

The opposition stands at 49.3 percent, while the parties within the Tidö Agreement bloc receive 49 percent. If these results were reflected on election day, the opposition would have a lead of one seat, 175 to 174.

At the same time, the difference is so small that no definite conclusions can be drawn about which side actually has the lead. The poll also shows that the Liberals appear likely to clear the parliamentary threshold with a margin.

This development represents a clear change compared to earlier polls, where the opposition had, for a long period, enjoyed a significantly larger lead. The closer election day approaches, the more the gap between the blocs has shrunk.

Åkesson Voted in Rinkeby

The Sweden Democrats’ party leader Jimmie Åkesson cast his advance vote in Rinkeby on Saturday. After his visit, he described the experience as depressing.

– It’s quite discouraging to see that this is not Sweden. This feels like going abroad. This is not how it should be.
