The campaign site Tidö.se has been taken down by the Swedish AI platform Lovable. The shutdown comes just two days before the election on September 13, and according to the think tank Oikos, which is behind the initiative, it is due to a “massive political influence campaign”.

Anyone who tries to visit Tidö.se is now met with a message from Lovable’s “Trust & Safety Team” stating that the website has been taken down.

The site has been a central part of Oikos’s information efforts ahead of the September 13 election and has been advertised in a range of media. It has also been distributed via half a million leaflets across the country.

In a post on X, the think tank writes:

“At the most critical moment, with the site advertised in a range of media, on half a million leaflets across the country, and referenced in tens of thousands of conversations with voters. At that point, Lovable chooses to shut down the campaign site. By all accounts, due to political pressure.”

Lovable is the Swedish AI company that offers a platform where users can build websites and apps with the help of generative AI. The company has grown extremely rapidly and is valued at tens of billions of kronor.

Tidö.se: Yielding to Pressure from Far-Left Activists

The decision was prompted by several far-left media outlets conducting influence campaigns against the initiative. This is also the view of Carl Eos, project manager for Tidö.se.

– Two days before election day, Lovable chose to shut down the campaign site Tidö.se to appease the pressure from far-left activists, he tells Samnytt and continues.

– This is despite the campaign merely representing the government coalition’s policies and following all applicable laws and regulations.

He also directed a message to the company Lovable.

– Every hour the website remains shut down, its impact on the election becomes more severe. We urge Lovable to immediately reverse the shutdown.
