On Friday, reports emerged that a child had been subjected to an assault rape in Järfälla, north of Stockholm. The police have launched a preliminary investigation into aggravated child rape after information that the child was taken into a green area. No suspect has yet been apprehended, but the case is said to be the highest priority in the entire region.

The police were alerted to the incident on Thursday morning in the Högby area, near Högbyskolan. The area is described in the media as a quiet residential district, where many families with children and elderly couples reside.

According to media reports, the child was taken into a green area by an unknown person.

“It’s terrible, you walk around with a knot in your stomach. It’s impossible to imagine how the family must be handling this,” a resident told Expressen.

During Thursday afternoon, parents of students in lower and middle schools were also informed through the V-klass school platform.

The municipality is also urging parents to accompany their children to and from school in the coming days due to the incident.

Police: ‘Top Priority’

No suspects have been apprehended yet, but police have increased their presence in the area and are working on several different investigative measures.

Pontus Enbom, municipal police officer in Järfälla, describes the case as the highest priority police operation in the area at the moment.

“Not just municipally but in the entire region. We have been working through the night and continue to work with various investigative measures. We have significant resources and it is at the highest priority,” he told Mitt i.

The police are also appealing to the public to contact 114 14 if they have made any observations that could be relevant to the investigation.
